Mixing & Matching: Colors

Have you noticed designer rooms in magazines and on TV that are full of colors and wondering how to get that look in your home? The trend of mixing and matching colors is defiantly here to stay and here's are few no-fail tips when trying it yourself!
1. Choose one piece to focus on. Such as an area rug, artwork or throw pillow and use that as the starting point to pull color inspiration from. Below, the lime, teal, and blue rugs inspire the color scheme around the room.

Liven up a neutral space by adding a collection of pillows in varying sizes, shapes, colors, and patterns. The bland walls and sofa fall back as bright colors pulled from the artwork transform the space.

2. Repetition. Using the duvet as inspiration, solid bright and bold colors are sprinkled around this space for a dramatic effect. By repeating the colors around the room it will create a sense of unity and balance.

3. Follow the 60/30/10 rule. This no fail guide will have you mixing colors like a pro in no time. Use a dominant color in 60% of the space, 30% a secondary color, and 10% as an accent color. Below we can see 60% is beige, 30% green and 10% purple.
